The History of the School

The separate school, then the Higher School of Chemistry, was founded on 1st September 1951. The early times of that new school (formerly part of the School of Textile Industry)were not easy. First of all there was a problem of space, the classrooms being situated in the building of the Grammar School of Husovice in Vranovská Street, while the laboratories remained in the school of textile, Francouzská Street. Since the grammar school moved to Husovice, and the school of chemistry then acquired some more space, both the general and the specialist classes have been taught in one building. Since 1998/1999 the whole building has been exclusively used by chemists.
Following the introduction of new fields of study and specializations, new specialist laboratories and classrooms have been opened and the facilities serving the study, work and free-time activities of both students and teachers have been developed. Thanks to grants From the South Moravian Regional Council, the school was given new windows and facadein 2011. The aim of the ongoing renovation and development works is to offer studentsthe highest possible level of education and training.
